Based solely on one Thursday night (6.9.23) visit (The Blue Stones 💎, The Velveteers, and JAKE), The Independent is a fantastic venue I will happily return to any chance I get.
1) Parking is a total nightmare, get there as early as possible if you can to find a space. If you don't know how to parallel park, you might be out of luck. The area as a whole is safe/mostly residential. 2) The venue is a perfect size with a great staff. 3) The sound is amazing - didn’t need earplugs. 4) If you're disabled they will treat you right.
Edit 6.13.25: Another Thursday night in June, another Blue Stones show. Two years later, everything noted previously still applies.
The independent is an exceptional venue if you get the chance to visit. It’s a very intimate venue and the door opens right up to the front corner of the stage. Very hard to get tickets for a big name, but if you do it’s an experience to remember! It gets packed at capacity, but not to the point where it’s unmanageable and uncomfortable
